Endlessly fascinated by people who send emails about lost ID cards. Do they think that people come across ID cards and instead of calling the number on the cards, look in their inbox

Just learnt that some housekeeping staff is not given a proper place to eat their lunch on campus and often eats inside the bathroom on the toilet. In what will come as a surprise to no one: they are all Dalit.

It seems to me like there is a growing gulf between Ashoka and its original mission, and more narrowly between Ashoka admin and students. I protest outside hoping to remind them of that which _they_ once were, what _we_ were once were and what we can be again, together.

But now, it feels like there is an apathy, an unkindness that has crept into its dealings. Workers with spinal injuries are being asked to perform tasks that would be harmful to their health. Why can’t we simply be kinder?

Ashoka was born of a magnificent dream. At the time, it too believed in its responsibility to the community. This is evidenced by the salaries that they had instituted in 2014, which were, by the standards of the time, not too bad (above market rates).
