@Polymarket @UMAprotocol The OO is perfect for projects wanting to build a prediction market platform or securely allow for arbitrary types of data to be brought onchain. If this is you, shoot me a DM and I’ll help you get started. 🤝.

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol So in a nutshell, UMA's Optimistic Oracle handles two tedious tasks for prediction markets:. - Settling market outcomes in a decentralized, trustless manner.- Resolving disputes.

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol For DVM requests, UMA stakers vote on the correct resolution value. The value returned by the DVM can then be used by Polymarket to settle payouts to the participants of that market.

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol Not every prediction market settles so easily. During the challenge period, anyone can submit a dispute by matching the proposer bond. A dispute would have prevented the proposed value from being used for payouts and escalated the market's resolution to UMA’s DVM.

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol In this case, the proposal went undisputed. Therefore, payouts were reported allowing users to burn conditional tokens for USDC. Participants holding Knicks tokens were able to redeem for USDC while the 76ers tokens were worthless.

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol When the Knicks won the series, someone (the proposer) submitted a proposal to the OO with the Knicks' victory outcome. The proposer posted a bond with a value corresponding to the Knicks, simultaneously starting a 2-hour challenge period.

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol Most traders who want exposure to a market go to the Polymarket UI. Polymarket uses an Exchange contract to facilitate atomic swaps according to signed limit orders between USDC and the binary tokens representing either outcome (Knicks or 76ers victory).

@Polymarket @UMAprotocol When the market was initialized, it was also prepared on the Conditional Token Framework (CTF) contract. This enables users to deposit collateral (USDC) to mint conditional tokens that represent the binary outcomes of the market ("Knicks" or "76ers").
