Let’s be clear the only reason that the US intervened was that PAF finally decided to retaliate - the next stage was Pak showing its nukes. Until the n, despite all of India’s provocations and murder of Pakistani civilians, the US was only to happy for India to have its way.

CNN Nick Robertson confirming what I said below. India reached out to the US, Saudi Arabia, & Turkey seeking immediate deescalation after Pakistan launched massive missile barrage onto Indian military installations. The US stepped in to save its ally. Not much more to it!
