I adopted a pup I was fostering. He arrived to New York in May from Tennessee. After a couple of days together, he started bringing toys out on his walks. It’s his signature in our neighborhood, so I’m posting a few videos and photos here.
I don't know if I can properly describe how happy I was today. That was the *hardest thing* I have ever done, but I had SO MUCH FUN. I was screaming and cheering along with all the fans (and did a lil reporting while doing it!!!). I LOVE YOU NEW YORK!!!!!!!!
This is from shortly after he arrived. We went to a self-wash place downtown for a bath and he was so good, so I got him a toy. He carried it the whole walk home & on the bus 😂
(1) This is so powerful for so many reasons. Last fall I ran a half in 1:37:25 — exactly 10 minutes faster than the one I did six years earlier when I was 26. I was always a soccer player, not a runner, and never imagined I could run a time like that.
This is Wally. He has no teeth so his tongue always sticks out. Tried his best to keep it in for the second pic, but that made his ear go up. 13/10

Omg I love this!!! He does eventually drop it — it’s unpredictable when be will — so then like you I’m also left walking around with a stuff animal 🤣
While I was doing some reporting on how the pandemic is affecting teenagers, one common theme kept coming up: They miss their partners!! So I talked to some high school couples around the country to see how they're dealing with everything:
I’ve read about how heelers are Velcro dogs. Kev is totally fine when left alone, but so long as I’m there he needs to be right by me or making some kind of contact with me.
Our dog died over the summer. She was my dad’s shadow and went to work with him and my stepmom every day for 13 years. They just put her photo on the side of all my the company trucks. Petri Plumbing’s most trusted companion 2008-2022 😩❤️😩❤️😩❤️
Forgot to add, another friend also brought me a spare computer! And one sent me a hilariously creative song she made about being laid off.
Kevin has offered incredible moral support but has not offered to pitch in and get a job
So far: my fam brought me pizza from Brooklyn (Nino’s in bay ridge😂); friends brought me ice cream & cookies or sent ice cream, chocolate & snacks to my apt; neighbors baked me brownies.
Gave myself today to veg out (and run 7 miles+strength train). Back to the grind tomoz
Part of my leg strength training now is picking up and carrying Kev when he no longer wants to walk in the cold. Or when he wants to facetime with my best friend.
A little offended that of the people I know who have had babies, no one has named their kid Alexandra. Like it’s a great name. And unique af. CC

i'm overseas and kev is home in new york so naturally i am spending my friday night looking through the trillions of pictures of him on my phone. here's a ridiculously cute one from last week. i cannottttt
Actually let me clarify: A friend messaged layoffs were happening & when I went to l check my email, I was immediately signed out but briefly saw something that looked like maybe I was let go ? But I was still on slack, so I messaged my channel "I think I'm laid off lol?"
Home pregnancy tests are marketed for the autonomy and privacy they offer women, but that hasn't been the experience for everyone. I talked to women with sight loss about how the inaccessibility of the tests takes away their right to privacy
I kept tossing and turning last night thinking about everything at stake. I’m sad, angry & scared it’s come to this, but we deserve better. The communities we serve deserve better. ✊🏻
My next door neighbor works in tech & today was his first day at his new job after being laid off in Jan. 2023. We wished each other luck this AM that we’d survive the day. He just knocked on my door bc he baked me brownies 🥹 including one very special brownie 😈
I've never gotten my own Christmas tree before (i'm not a plant person), but I've no idea if Kev's ever celebrated Christmas. On Sunday I went down the block and got him a little tree. so far he's tried to pee on it only once.

Ah!! Does he carry it the whole time? He’s done it too it when we’ve taken weekend trips outside the city. He also brings me a toy when I get home from being out 🤣

There are so many incredible comments and stories about pups in this thread, I’m trying to get back to everyone individually!! ❤️🙌🏻 For now, here’s last night’s walk. Will post today’s later (featuring a new toy he got from my aunt!)
@HadesHathHair
Haha hi jake from State Farm 🤣 He’s definitely red heeler (so open to grooming tips btw!). I think maybe a little Pitt, lab or shepherd? I have to do one of those tests!
got home from a date and yelled out loud 'why am i so awkward!!' -- hands thrown up to the heavens and all -- and the guy who works in my building who i have an extreme crush on was right there and laughed so basically i just collapsed and now am elbow deep in ice cream so gn
