Context engineering is why coding agents are not the best for everything. Take browser use - coding agents keep the DOMs from all visited pages, but you only need the last few.
We’re starting to get a clearer sign of how vast the surface area of context engineering is going to be. To build AI agents, in theory, it should be as simple as having a super powerful model, giving it a set of tools, having a really good system prompt, and giving it access to

Models diverge beyond just their APIs. Cursor's prompt for GPT-5 differs significantly from Sonnet 4.5 in instructions and tools. GPT-5 gets 668 tokens for TODO management while Sonnet 4.5 gets 71. GPT-5 gets an apply_patch tool while Sonnet gets search_replace.
GPT-5-Codex is a greatest coding model that sucks in independent coding agents. Let's explore the rabbithole of a technical rugpull by frontier labs. For years, there was an unspoken truce. OpenAI and Anthropic shipped models with standard APIs. Easy swaps between providers.

Reverse engineered Cursor's prompts for GPT-5 and Sonnet 4.5. GPT has a very detailed prescriptive prompt while Sonnet keeps it concise. E.g. GPT has 668 tokens about todo management vs. just 71 for Sonnet!

You can use Claude Skills with Codex! Just ask Claude to export a list of all skills and put that into AGENTS md

I started managing guitar tabs in Cursor. Now it makes me customized song sheets! Just the model didn't work well. Had to make an MCP to scrape tabs for context collection.

npm install prompt-canvas & place a <PromptCanvas /> component in your React layout. Draw your changes, then copy-paste image in your coding agent!

Visual prompts for coding agents directly from your frontend. Works with Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code! 🔗⬇️ Started as a quick hack at the Cursor office - thanks @benln @ericzakariasson @leerob for the credits 😁
Change the frontend by drawing on it! Too often I end up prompting "change the thing to the right of X". Drawings make it easy to specify :) Thanks for hosting @benln @ericzakariasson @leerob

Make UI changes by drawing! Draw, copy, paste in coding agent. Let me know if you'd use this - releasing as a plug & play React component soon.
