Yes to all of this❣️
Working toward equity is about addressing systems, policies, practices and narratives. Discourse analysis is a powerful tool to use in the process. Take note of what is said, when, who, and how it’s said. Many opportunities for daily disruption and reconstruction emerge there.

Restorative practice creates space to feel and articulate emotions.
Many of us were taught to "suck it up" or "squash it down". When we don't have #PermissionToFeel, a long list of unwanted outcomes ensues—numbness, disconnection. But when we embrace our emotions—and make them work for us, not against us—it opens doors we never knew were there.

Words for educators to live by❣️
I was a teacher for (many) years before discovering I really wasn't teaching. I was talking, assigning, grading. And I thought I was teaching. Truly. I wasn't. I didn't start teaching until I learned to respond to each kid's learning. That is where/when I become a teacher.

So I am on a full American Airline flight that was supposed to take off a half hour ago. It was just announced that the delay is because we have “NO PILOT” and “we hope one shows up”.
