I tried warning this tourist family not to leave their lunch unattended, but they didn't speak any English. The moment they headed to the docks to see the manatees, this crow made its move. Watching it patiently wait, then systematically dismantle their bag? Honestly impressive.

My only regret for this shot was that it was a pretty long-range capture (thank God for cropping in with sufficient megapixels) and I should've gone over the 1/2000th shutter speed. Otherwise, not bad for hand-held while kayaking!

The bay erupted with life paddling to Snake Bight. Pelicans and osprey diving for silver fish before vanishing into mangroves. The Everglades never gets old.

Why is my response to Elon doing crazy numbers? Guess it's refreshing to see compared to all the other repetitive replies π

October's Dispatch is live! This month brought my first in-field black bear encounter and major progress on the Croczilla documentary. Read the full recap of everything I got into ππΌ https://t.co/vWvupdcnGU

Back to the drawing board. My theory didn't pan out despite all the data I've collected on Croczilla's appearances at Nine Mile Pond... I know you're out there somewhere.

Did you get some nature exposure this weekend?

Caught in the crossfire! I paddled right into the middle of a blacktip shark ambushing a school of fish in the seagrass. The shark bumped my kayak before darting off into the blue.

Heading back from Snake Bight through open channels when I discovered this hitchhiker in the kayak. Big dragonfly fan, especially since they hunt mosquitoes. Natural pest control at its finest.

$GC Interesting formation on gold! We have a triangle in place, watching for a break of the lower band! Higher time frames show a corner, falling prices!

Out of all the high praise I've gotten... This is by far the highest. Teddy Roosevelt is my favorite President and one of the few I revered growing up as a kid. To be even mentioned in the same sentence as him is insane to me.
@GoldenAspen1492 I'm excited for you, he is our generation's modern Teddy Roosevelt.

Still, one of the best days ever. Gorgeous weather, memorable encounters, and some sweet bird photos to show for it. Not to mention I saved this massive cottonmouth from getting ran over! If you're a big fan of birds in flight, you're in for a treat with this next set!

Got five hours of sleep, felt like garbage, didn't complete my charted 17 miles, no flamingos, and didn't see any big crocs. Not to mention I wasted so much energy avoiding getting completely stuck in some of the mud flats I happened upon (I misread the channels I guess).

Here's the head-on encounter with the black tip reef shark. Last second got spooked by the action camera and took off the other direction.
@actionxander @xploristsociety What was the pucker factor on a scale of 2 to 4?

Bumped into three crocodiles on my paddle to Snake Bight. I was trying to get a video of this seven-footer stalking these wading birds but he kept disappearing (clearly camera shy). Anyways, safe to say the birds were aware of a nearby predator.

The cool thing about being alone out in the Everglades is having all this nature to myself.

Incredible day on the water! I've been paddling for years, but I've never encountered this many blacktip sharks in a single session. I lost count! At one point, I found myself completely surrounded by fins cutting through the water. What an unforgettable experience! π¦

Set out at dawn for Nine Mile Pond, then launch into Florida Bay solo right after low tide. Charted a 17-nautical-mile route heading east to explore Christian Point and Snake Bight before island-hopping back through the keys. Fingers crossed for crocodile and flamingo sightings!
