I tell ya, I will not be sad if I never see another docker file, or docker compose, or kubectl, or yaml file, or ponderous grpc, or excruciating webpack build time. It's a death by a million tiny bullshit papercuts.

Part of this is just trying to set aside some time for me. But another part of it is just the way that folks are building software these days.

I recently decided to take a break from the rat race. My last day at my current gig is Aug 9th (so hit me up if you wanna hang out).

Anyone have a recommended 3D printer for a relative beginner? Looking to make some relatively simple camera tools, learn, practice.

Just announced by @LimitedRunGames is the revival of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution! This lost Shantae sequel is back in development after nearly 20 years and will be released on an actual GBA-compatible cartridge! https://t.co/Mbk8wUmVLv

Couple of nice shots from the Kodak Retina I've been working on. It's not perfect (frame counter still isn't working right). But otherwise the camera is a lot of fun to use, and takes pictures!

Anyone taught themselves basic machining? I’m considering buying my first lathe and would love resources.

Many of these parts have pretty strange geometries that wouldn’t lend themselves to a lathe or a mill. Were they stamped and then hand worked? Honest question!

How did creators of small precise machines in the middle of the century manufacture their parts? Take a camera shutter by someone like Compur or even a later Seikosha (or any watch maker for that matter)

However these instructions weren’t sufficient for me. I needed to position the spring into a small slit on the inside edge of the gear.

Opening the bottom of the camera the jam was fairly obvious. Looking online it’s called the “idle gear” and it was out of place. https://t.co/USPVVuVjol

I replaced the batteries after which you need to trigger the reset switch by putting the camera into bulb mode. Doing this I was able to get the shutter to wind a couple times but it would fail shortly after.

The OM-2 will go into mirror lock up for two reasons. If the batteries are low or if it’s experiencing an internal error.

I’ve got a terrible cold so I fixed a camera. This OM-2 is a fabulous little camera. Aperture priority mode, metered agains the film, very accurate, very reliable. The film advance was jammed and the mirror locked up.
