Yesterday I did a thing… thank you to the people at @academy_4_tech for having me on their panel to discuss practical proven ways of screening people IN for tech roles. If we are doing to grow and have the skills we need we all need to engage in growing the pool!

Too many companies diversitywash, underfund and underact in the name of diversity, representation or inclusion. We need accountability on inaction, too.

We need to select our talent based on signals for the future and create technology and systems to help our leaders to make those choices. We need our Early Careers Leaders, Talent Teams and CEOs to be bolder in the solutions they employ.

So how can we break barriers, open gates, open doors and build bridges into a technical profession? We need to treat how we learn technical skills radically differently and base that approach on potential, not existing skills.

So, there's a talent issue. There aren't enough people for the roles available. And there is a diversity crisis in tech. The current market makes it more difficult to hire quality and diverse talent to foster representation and inclusion in tech teams.
