For the past year I’ve been building Arrakis on a single thesis: with the right tools and secure environments, LLMs can reliably do complex work. This journey started two years ago when I left a stable role at Google to work on early coding agents. While still at Google, I wrote

When Shohei Ohtani was a high school freshman, he created a detailed "dream sheet" with one central goal: to be the #1 draft pick for 8 NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) teams. It was a 64-cell roadmap based on a framework called the Harada Method. Here's exactly what Shohei

Seeing GPT-5.1-Codex-Max be first in terminal bench 2.0 is nice because it is within the Codex CLI harness, which means it measures something that is readily usable by all with a $20 ChatGPT subscription, without tricks. It also makes me very excited for the weeks to come.

A funny thing I see at work - people leaning over their keyboards and launching a bunch of Codex tasks right before heading to lunch. It’s become my favorite "anec-metric" for how much a team is using AI.

It has been amazing to watch the progress of the Codex team; they are beasts. The product/model is already so good and will get much better; I believe they will create the best and most important product in the space, and enable so much downstream work.

My first job was at Microsoft working on WSL. It’s a full circle moment training our models on Windows.

Codex training now includes Windows, should be much improved there.

Today we launched GPT-5.1-Codex-Max - a new agentic coding model specifically tuned for long running tasks. It’s the first model we’ve trained to operate in Windows environments—something I’ve been working on night-and-day over the past few weeks. Things happen fast here :)

Check out this incredible work evaluating model performance on real-world tasks. I had a tiny behind-the-scenes assist; honored to be acknowledged.

Understanding the capabilities of AI models is important to me. To forecast how AI models might affect labor, we need methods to measure their real-world work abilities. That’s why we created GDPval.

This book doesn't get enough love. @fchollet thank you for this gem, it explains things in such simple terms and doesn't skip on any of the details. Simplicity in teaching comes from mastery! Please write more. https://t.co/IXrYVRr4G2

A lot of these long running agents will be written in Go. Really hoping 2025 is the year of more Golang SDKs.
