The new American oligarchy is here. The wealthiest 1% gained 987× more wealth per household than the poorest 20%. Proud of my @OxfamAmerica colleagues for exposing this inequality emergency, and calling for an economy that works for the many, not the wealthy few.

Reflecting on my recent visit to the DRC, and how vital it is to keep the voices of local partners, communities, and women impacted by the harmful cuts to US foreign assistance centered in our efforts. It’s up to us to bring our common humanity and support to people in need.

I welcome the news of a ceasefire in Gaza, offering a moment of hope and peace after so much loss. True peace cannot succeed without justice and accountability at its core for all Palestinians and Israelis, ending the cycle of violence. Read more:

Two years is far too long. The world cannot look away.

Famine is a man-made reality in Gaza. The healthcare system is shattered. Families are enduring unimaginable loss. The humanitarian situation has never been more dire.

65,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, most of them women and children. Two million have been displaced, many multiple times.

Through an unrelenting campaign of bombardment, siege, and starvation, Israel has inflicted deliberate harm on civilians and destroyed the very fabric of life in Gaza. This amounts to collective punishment on a mass scale.

Two years. On October 7, 2023, Hamas and other armed groups carried out devastating attacks in Israel. We still mourn those lost that day and the 48 hostages who remain in captivity. But Israel’s response has created one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time.

At #ClimateWeekNYC I opened the “Taxation for Fair Climate Financing” panel organized w/ @ClubdeMadrid & @GSLTaskForce. It featured a call from 38 former heads of state for permanent polluter profit taxes.

Today, as they meet, President Trump must act now to compel Prime Minister Netanyahu to change course: to uphold international law, ensure accountability, end impunity and secure a permanent ceasefire.

Nonprofits play a vital role in supporting communities, strengthening democracy, and defending rights. We must stand together against violence and unite for a free, safe society.

We must also reject efforts to exploit tragedy as a tool to divide us or to undermine nonprofit organizations that serve the public good.
