Lifeweaver controls update next week!
New controls:
• Alt fire will now fire Thorn Volley
• Platform replacing Dash on ability 1
• Platform also cancelable with the same button
• Dash moved to double jump
• Auto-reload of Thorns slowed to compensate (1/2)
The team is looking into alternative control methods for Lifeweaver's dash and weapon swap in order to make the transition from healing to damage smoother. Additional details and timing coming soon.
Hey all! Quick update on some changes coming to Season 2. After reviewing data for Season 1, we're moving Ramattra in to Tier 45 of the Battle Pass and making a few more weekly challenges easier to complete. Excited for you all to see everything new in Season 2 starting tomorrow!

[4/5] We just used a hotfix earlier today to address a collision issue on Shambali and the team is also planning to use that system to make some quick hero balance changes later this week based on the early read of Season 2 hero performance.
Today we not only revealed our newest hero, Kiriko, we also created our first build candidate for launch on Oct 4th! This is an amazing milestone for the dedicated people on this team, who are giving a huge effort and pouring themselves into a game that they love… 1/2

Earlier today we started rolling out fixes for an issue where players from a much lower skill tier would get pulled into higher skill games. We'll continue to monitor and make additional changes if needed. Thank you all for your patience! 🙏
It's been a challenging week for us on Team 4, and for our community as well. We feel loss. But we are remaining focused on our players and our dedication for the future of the game we love. I'll begin releasing Director's Takes again next week.
Numbani was temporarily removed from the game while the team was investigating a crash bug. We've just reenabled it in Unranked and Ranked. Sorry for the mistake and thanks for your patience.
The team will continue collecting Lifeweaver performance data over the weekend and should have details on balance changes (more than likely a buff) sometime next week. Info on coming control scheme changes should come next week as well.
Working hard on reducing matches that have players with wide skill ranges. We made a change this morning and will make one tomorrow that should reduce these occurrences. Reports have been very helpful. If you continue to see these, let us know, so we can track down their causes.
Today's balance patch is a bit lighter than usual because some of its planned changes were pulled forward to the mid December patch. Also, a friendly reminder that the scheduled changes to Roadhog are not part of today’s patch and are slated for mid to late January.
We're working on the ability for players to buy Golden Weapons with the new, 2024 Competitive Currency. Currently planning on releasing the change in Season 10, but feel free to save up for Golden Weapons in the meantime! We'll share more details on release timing as we get them.
Update on Sigma and more! Fixes are live for:
• Sigma flying bug
• Doomfist and Ramattra blocking beam damage inconsistently.
We're also investigating other fixes for a Kiriko teleport bug and a camera shake issue when firing. We'll share information on these when available.

Clarifying a few things with the self-heal. It's one part of a much larger set of changes coming to the game in S9. Internally we're talking about, and targeting some of these changes at damage spikiness in game, the role of DPS in securing kills, and the strength of healing.

We’ve been working to solve an issue for some players who received a lower final rank in Season 3 than they should have. We’ve identified a fix and plan to include it in the next patch later this month. Impacted players should receive their correct Season 3 ranking (1/2)

Due to an older server configuration, Season 1 was removed from Competitive History in our most recent patch. We're bringing it back, with next Thursday as our target for the fix to go live. Sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate the community's fast response! 😀
Two skins planned to be given away during Season 5 to celebrate Summer Games were accidentally enabled for a short period of time today. We've since fixed the issue. Log in later in Season 5 to claim these skins… and if you were able to do it earlier… congratulations!

Late reply, sorry! Faster respawn times was an example for short (i.e. limited time) experiments that we would like to run starting in S8. These would not be permanent and would not affect all areas of the game, especially comp.

Our team is so excited to celebrate Pride in game this year! The world of Overwatch has always been envisioned as a bright and optimistic future, and we want players, as well as our own team, to feel represented and celebrated there.

We learned a ton from the first Quick Play: Hacked. While we still want to try new things in QPH to make the game more fun, we won't be running the Quicker Play version again this season. Based on feedback we'll make changes to the format before we bring it back next season.
That was sooooo much fun! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped us build our underwater, Talon base, in the ruins of Atlantis, off the coast of the Galapagos, map. Whoever thought of the jump pad through the waterfall is a genius 😎

] We are temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allows heroes to reach unintended locations. We are working to address these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our next upcoming patch which is set for November 15.
And receive competitive points and titles based on where they ended once the patch goes live. To help make up for it, competitive points will be granted again. So these players will get both the correct CP gain, but they also get to keep the original grant we gave them. (2/2)
Interesting footnote with this concept. The team was deciding whether to release Space Ranger or our next tank in S12. This concept was sooooo cool that we quickly made the decision to release her first. This helps our support ratio too! 🥳

We're working on a change to scoring in Hero Mastery aiming to go live next week. To avoid ties from players with a perfect score, time will be tracked to 0.1 per second and used to adjust scores for players finishing the course in the gold timing band.

Changes to grouping restrictions in S10 are causing a subset of players to get abnormally long queue times. We're aware of the situation and investigating a fix.

For context we made several changes to matchmaking in S3. We'll cover these and their impact(generally, really positive) in the next blog update. A byproduct of these changes was pulling gold players into GM lobbies. That's what these fixes are targeted at.
Just published an update to matchmaking on the OW blog. It's a little bit technical, but it's because we're trying to be as transparent with the system and the work that's going into it. More updates as we make progress, first one in the replies.
The matchmaker had some configuration issues that caused an increase in these matches over the past week. We think these have been addressed and tomorrow's changes should improve it more. Sorry for the trouble and thanks again for all the reports and feedback! 🙏

A bug caused some players to not receive their season 4 comp titles. We're going through the final process of testing and certifying a build with a fix, and are targeting a release for some time next week.

Player levels are a part of this system as well. The sum total of your hero levels will contribute to your total player level. It was an oversight of me to not mention it on today's stream. I get nervous sometimes!☺️
