True. A lot of heads explode when I also point out that defense has been the *slowest-growing* major federal spending category (excluding interest) since 2000 (and even that 2000 base year was following 10 years of post-cold war cuts).
Bit of a narrative break is that US military spending as a share of GDP remains at the lowest levels in post-WWII history despite the war in Ukraine

British Prime Minister Margret Thatcher famously once said, βEurope was created by history. America was created by philosophy.β Nearly all European nations trace their beginning to a common ethnic kinship or a cultural characteristic, but America was created by exiles united in

Montana will allow duplexes, by-right, on most land in Montana cities larger than 5,000 people. π The bill is intended to spur more infill housing density while protecting Montanaβs vast wilderness. ποΈ The Governor has said he will sign the bill.
JUST NOW: SB 323 passes a final third reading in the Senate to become the first major statewide zoning reform bill of the '23 #mtleg session to officially pass both chambers. Now on its way to @GovGianforte! #mtpol

and today we're flying a 25' historic rainbow flag from City Hall. Lots of work to do, but as my newly elected CO House rep @VigilForHD16 said today at the flag ceremony in front of a crowd of at least a thousand people, "This is who we really are." 2/2

I understand where the easy narrative (evangelical, conservative, monotonously intolerant) about Colorado Springs comes from, but we are also a city whose many affirming churches held vigils for thousands of mourners this weekend, 1/2

Ask not what your president can do to bring down the price of gas. Ask what your mayor can do to make it possible to get around without a car.

Yeah, this wave is not messing around. This is probably a huge undercount too, given that so much testing is happening at home right now and not getting reported anywhere.

Wow. We are well into a wave almost as big as last winter's, but it's focused in the 40% of our population that isn't vaccinated.
1 in 38 unvaccinated Coloradans are infected with COVID-19, Polis says https://t.co/pBr13Bt23k

We are seeing case and hospitalization rates that are at or above where we were last year at this time. Last year, that led to a huge spike in November and December. And it's largely (but not completely) among the unvaxxed.
Numbers are unbiased, and these numbers canβt be any more clear. Nearly 91% of COVID patients in the UC Health Intensive Care Units are unvaccinated. Itβs time to stop putting this off and take action so our community can move past this pandemic. Get vaccinated Today.

Across CO, more than 75% of adults are now vaccinated against COVID-19. Inside UCHealth hospitals, they're seeing that the 25% of Coloradans who are unvaccinated are making up the vast majority of their patients with COVID-19.

Wow
Today is the last day we will use coal to generate electricity at our downtown Martin Drake Power Plant. We honor the impact this plant and the employees have had for nearly 100 years, as we eagerly look ahead to a cleaner energy future. https://t.co/QgAEI4KRYV
