Korematsu continued his career in activism, defending the rights of Muslims and Americans of Middle Eastern descent in the wake of 9/11. We look to Korematsu as an inspiration and role model as we continue to fight to protect, defend, and expand civil rights to this day.

Today, we honor civil rights hero Fred Korematsu, whose decades of advocacy work secured Japanese Americans the reparations they were due after the US government unjustly interned over 120,000 people during WWII.

🗳️BREAKING: In a landmark win for voting rights, the NYCLU, @ACLU, @aaldef, @SteptoeLLP, + LatinoJustice PRLDEF have reached a first-of-its-kind settlement on behalf of Black, Latino, and Asian voters that will create fair, equitable legislative maps for voters in Nassau County.

We just witnessed Congress pass S5, the Laken Riley Act, the most radically xenophobic bill it has passed in recent history. S5 and the raft of anti-immigrant executive orders are just the beginning. What this dangerous bill means for our communities and the fight ahead:

We honor & reflect on the legacy and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King paved the path for the Asian American community & all communities of color, in standing up against hate & discrimination. We continue fighting for a world where the human rights of all are dignified.

These workers faced an impossible choice: continue to endure the exploitations and hazards of the job—or face financial ruin. All workers deserve fair wages, dignity, and safety.

Over the past year, AALDEF has represented dozens of immigrant workers across eight states to fight against these coercive stay-or-pay agreements that compel employees to pay thousands of dollars for simply resigning—even when in response to dangerous working conditions.

AALDEF joined the @ACLU Women's Rights Project & 11 other orgs calling on the American Arbitration Association to stop helping abusive employers enforce stay-or-pay contracts against their workers by refusing to accept such cases. Read the letter here:
