It’s perhaps underrated/underexamined how much the Christian persecution narrative has been boosted by pre-existing conspiracy theories in both Nigeria and the US — which are themselves fed by the very real, staggering amount of violence in the country

...to call the violence solely based on religion would be misleading. It's causes are much deeper, even if it fell across sectarian lines. Today, the town's Muslims and Christians are working to rebuild trust.
