one of the gnarliest tricks i've seen in rust is preventing deadlocks *at compile time*
I think it might be fun to make a mutex library where you must give every mutex a u32 priority, and you are only allowed to acquire mutexes of strictly higher priority than any your thread currently holds, with crashes if you violate this rule. This completely prevents deadlocks.

i love using agents. they also still suck in the same way they've sucked for the last year.

either way, the outage wasn't "caused" by an unwrap, it was caused by the poor handling of it

unwrap() is for invariant violations. in this particular case, the invariant was a soft limit which they treat as a hard one
The Cloudflare outage was caused by an unwrap(). I think Rust's standard library is very well-designed overall, but I think unwrap was a mistake. Code that can panic should stand out—e.g. with panic!()—and "like panic! but harder to spot and easier to reach for" is a bad pitch.

the reason we haven't adopted ipv6 yet is because the addresses are ugly

I do not send through “Jito”. I do not send through “Zeroslot”. I send to the CURRENT LEADER’S TPU, and if it drops, I kill myself. Albert Is Great
