πŸ’― So many founders get this wrong - they build to hit a fundraising milestone instead of building something people love using. If you build stuff people love using, you’ll be able to raise! And you likely won’t have to… which means you get better terms.

im not interested in building for the next funding round. i want to build something that lasts. something with real value and staying power. funding rounds come and go. i want to last for the long term.

Mother's Day has always been complicated for me. For years, it's been a reminder of a relationship filled with struggle rather than celebration. But this year, it's different. Baby Girl, coming Summer 2025. This Mother's Day, I'm not just thinking about my past as a daughter,

Outside of em dashes, it’s so obvious someone has copy-pasted AI to write when you see in the post, β€œNo fluff. No BS. Just…” πŸ™„.

PIPs get a bad rep and for good reason. It's usually used by HR to CYA. But why does it have to be this way?. PIPs should help people improve. Or, it should reveal that the fit isn't right and it's time to part ways. πŸ‘‰ Download the free template now:

This is probably one of the biggest mistakes I see as a coach. The best leaders don't just copy; they think critically about the kind of leader they need to be to achieve success. More here (Sunday's most recent edition!) - go read it now:

Rather than trying to emulate someone else, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 π…πŽπ”ππƒπ„π‘π’ πƒπŽ π“π‡πˆπ’ πˆππ’π“π„π€πƒ:. 1. They don't blindly copy. Instead, they think critically about their unique situation and circumstances. 2. They surround themselves with a "Challenge Network" - that.

CEOs - if you belong to this camp, here's your PSA:. π’π“πŽπ π“π‘π˜πˆππ† π“πŽ π‚πŽππ˜ π˜πŽπ”π‘ π…π€π•πŽπ‘πˆπ“π„ 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒. Copying another founder's playbook rarely translates to success. Why? Because YOU ARE NOT THEM. You didn’t start your company in the same market,

Have you ever worked for a CEO who had an ego so big, they thought they were the next big Thought Leaderℒ️ or God's greatest gift to humanity?. "My CEO wants to be the next Sam Altman."."They're convinced they're the next Naval."."He thinks he's Steve Jobs, reincarnated.". >>.

I feel really passionately about this topic. So this Sunday’s newsletter of Force Multipliers is all about how to avoid the common pitfalls of mindless copying, and how to think critically about systems to implement in your own company.

Instead, you need to think critically about your situation:. -What is true about your company today?. -What about your circumstances/industry?. -What’s different today about the environment than when your competition or inspiration ran β€œthat playbook that worked for them”?.

. but the specific implementations are different! It isn’t as simple as saying, β€œSo-and-so did this at their company, so you should do the same thing.”. IN FACT. if you have a coach who says this to you, run very far and very fast, in the opposite direction.

If you’re thinking (in SpOnGeBoB CaSiNgG):. β€œRegina, shouldn’t everyone sleep enough and exercise?”. obviously! Some things that are universal. When running a company, everyone wants high talent density, a product that makes users happy, and a team that cares about customers.

That’d be like telling every single person to go on the same diet or workout routine, and expecting everyone to have the exact same results. That’s not how it works. Every person’s body, age, etc. are different, which is why personalization matters!.

As an exec coach, I totally get the logic behind it. Many times, CEOs will say, β€œSo-and-so did XYZ and that resulted in a successful company. Shouldn't I do the same thing?”. And the answer is, not necessarily.

One of the most common mistakes I see founders making when building their company is this:. Mindlessly copying other famous leaders. A thread on why this is a stupid idea: >>
