Can somebody explain to me why when im working a shift in the ER, even in my doc box, im not allowed to have any food or drinks in there (per JCAHO)? Like I can’t leave the ER to get food/drinks so often the only option is to bring something, but I have to leave the ER to consume

I think one of the hardest parts of EM intern year is not truly having a practice pattern yet and continually working with attendings who have different practice patterns so you always feel like you’re wrong.

My wife’s residency program lost ACGME accreditation. This comes as a devastating blow to us and her co-residents. She will be looking for a PGY2 spot in IM (preferably in NJ) starting this July. From what I understand, they come with funding. Can anyone help? #MedX

If you think physicians are overpaid, maybe you should take the necessary course work in undergrad, take and pass the MCAT, apply for med schools, pay hundreds of thousands for tuition, learn for 4 years in a very high pressure learning environment, then pay thousands more to

I’ve been on my anesthesia block for the past month, and honestly, I can’t wait to return to the ED tomorrow! I have nothing against anesthesia, but off-service rotations only reinforce my belief that I made the right choice in choosing this specialty.
