Here's the first article on a proposed theory of UFOs and the Mind with an abstract going over the main ideas and then also some teases at future topics that will be covered to fill in this idea of trying to account for the failure of UAP science.

More hopefully coming soon beyond the qualitative analysis/hypothesis ranking of this post/replies so we can go beyond opinion to something with uncertainty properly quantified.

Optical artifact (wavefront/diffraction) and/or balloon look consistent with the Mosul Orb video under quantitative analysis going beyond the qualitative hypothesis ranking of the prior post. Uncertainties around the exact DSP along with not having raw data seem to matter.

Here's another case with a more clear example of this type of aberration hypothesis.

The Mosul Orb has two viable hypotheses consistent with optical aberration or reflecting balloon given the data. Heres a different case with a more straightforward signature. This is the "egg" photo published by the Skywatcher group which is consistent with PSF abberation(1/5)

I'll try and mix things up since the last two were pointing out UAPs probably being false positives. Coming soon is an analysis of the Chris Bledsoe case but not focusing on the "orbs" but the "Lady" aspect. Should be fun :).

@SkywatcherHQ @jakebarber2025 @MickWest @AeroTech_Space @DoD_AARO .Post I referenced with the original photo: I have a more detailed model that takes into account higher order optics terms like the astigmatism that I'll try and share soon.

To appreciate just how good of an image this is, imagine trying to capture a picture of a white bullet flying out of a high-powered rifle. Now, multiply the speed of that bullet 3 to 6 times. The speed of a high powered rifle round is 1,200-1,500 MPH. The speed of this object

But this gives an example of how aberration and image processing can possibly leave gradients in what looks like a real object but in reality is most likely an aberration produced by the a point source interacting with the optics used to take the image. (5/5).

If they release the details of the diagnostics utilized, their calibration data, and the original raw data a more formal analysis could test the optical aberration hypothesis and provide uncertainty quantification. Open collaboration among groups would go a long way. (4/5).

Below you can see the PSF on blue background. Notice the ^ of dark dots above the central dark Airy disk and white diffraction ring(3/3). They appear in the contrast enhanced version of the "egg" photograph. Differences in the exact shape are partially due to astigmatism (3/5).

In the left photo you can see a zoomed in section of the original "egg" craft photo posted to the Skywatcher X account that was allegedly summoned with the help of psychics. In the right photo you can see a simulation of the PSF compared with a contrast enhanced "egg" photo(2/5).

Example of the image processing pipeline crushing shadows trying to deal with the saturated disk. Can see the dark, light, dark on the right side of the white roofed building. Can drive PSF ring below background in full pipeline. Silver balloon (look up Orbz) second likely guess.

This can be simulated using specialized functions and AARO should probably write a code to do that since many "silver orbs" are really false positives of this nature which is why they are seen all over. Hope you enjoyed and keep on searching for the anomalous! (4/5).

In image 4 the PSF lobe sits on the green between the white roof and the brown sidewalk. See how the Airy ring is darker along the two edges now between colors gradients on either side. This is the same phenomena that lead to the Skywatcher "egg" photo false positives. (4/5).

In image 3 the PSF lobe is over a non-uniform background with a sharp gradient between the white roof and darker green/shadowed area below it , see how the dark Airy ring changes along the edge between the white roof and green-shadowed yard. (3/5).

The frames labeled 1 & 2 are taken when the bright PSF lobe (saturated white spot moving through the frame) is over a somewhat uniform patch of background, see how the dark (Airy) rings around it are consistent. (2/5).

I usually wait and drop hints so others can have fun solving these false positives but this time I guess I'll have some fun. It's not a real object but an optical aberration caused by the point spread function(PSF). The dark ring changes depending upon background contrast. (1/5)

I always thought this directors cut of Anjali's speech in DC was better than the original theatrical release

Its also a good joke to remember as more stuff comes out on the UAP topic.
