I got nominated for Best Coloring in the Eisner Awards for my work in Helen of Wyndhorn and Batman and Robin: Year One! That’s a first for me, so I’m really stoked about it!

Layouts are the toughest part of the process, ask anyone. And that’s just one example. She has been going through a lot lately and still managing to do her best work. I honestly don’t know how it’s possible.

If you knew how strong @BilquisEvely really is, you’d have a whole new appreciation for her work. Like, she had a migraine through the layouts of issue #6 that lasted 10 days. 10 days in terrible pain and she managed to make one of the best issues of the mini series.

These, of course, are just the series that got published this year. There are still more wonderful people that I got to collaborate with in 2021 in short stories, covers and brand new series. I’m also enormously proud and happy of what we accomplished together.

2021 was the best year of my career. I’m super thankful to all of my colleagues who made it possible. Waking Hours, Ka-Zar, Supergirl. Such wonderful teams of writers, artists and editors. It doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you so much, folks.

In cold facts, color is a tool that CAN be excluded from a book, from a movie or from a tv show. But in the end, my goal as comic colorist is to transform that notion and make an unnecessary tool BECOME an essential one.

And there lays the true power of colors. They can add so, so much to the story. So much emotion, so much beauty, so much depth. To a point, ideally, that it would be hard to imagine that very same book without its colors: it just wouldn't be the same.

It is true. And the same goes with full colors movies. But that's the beauty of it: even though colors aren't -literally- necessary in comics, they can be so remarkable that you couldn't possibly think about certain books without remembering its colors.
