Alright, I'm doing it (well, probably not deactivating because I don't trust this place to keep my account) Logging off until next year. Off to throw my phone in a river🫶

In recent years, many young people have approached the faith through social media, successful programs and popular online Christian witnesses. The danger is that a faith discovered online is limited to individual experiences, which may be intellectually and emotionally

What a treasure we have in the faith. What a gift is life with Christ.

A while back, I wrote about the phenomenon of "deconstructing," and how frightening it can be to realize your faith is tied up so intimately in imperfect human relationships. But that's actually the way God set it up. He wanted us to find Him through each other.

“You will not see me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’” Can’t hear these words of Christ from today’s gospel without thinking of Ratzinger’s quote - “Every Eucharist is parousia, the Lord’s coming” Already, and not yet.

Decorating for Halloween seems like such a good idea until you’re fighting for your life wrestling a 9-foot Marshmallow Man balloon to the ground at 10:08 at night in 40 degree weather just to get up tomorrow and wrestle him again

Jesus said that what we say in the dark will be proclaimed in the light. There is no night so dark that Christ cannot illuminate. It’s sort of beautiful that we begin Hallowtide carrying lanterns in dark places, even among shadows of things that are supposed to frighten us.

The way the first reading & Gospel go together today is 🧑‍🍳🤌 Don’t be a slave to your passions, be a slave to grace, like the slave found hard at work when the master comes.

Blessed to have lived, for a brief time, during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II. What a legend.
