I think what people are misunderstanding is that youre not stopped from recording or taking photos. There are hd phone cam rentals if you want better quality pics. The issue is that professional vidcam equipment is a safety hazard in tight spaces. It's really that simple.

sigh all I can say is a lot of events/touring companies in japan are very strict about not allowing professional cameras or even any kind of photo/video and almost all attendees comply. But when the rule is imposed in other countries its a nuisance...
