New w/ @kelseybrugger — Republicans are mulling the sale of some public lands to help pay for a massive budget reconciliation bill to advance President Donald Trump’s agenda. But just how big they’ll be able to go is an open question.

Republicans have tried — and failed — to overhaul the Endangered Species Act for decades. This time could be different. “I’m not going to throw my arms open, but if anyone can get me to the table, it’s Westerman,” said Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.).

Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Mont.) praised President Donald Trump’s purge of agency inspectors general, said he recommended the action. "I had an IG that was biased, that as soon as I left, she left. She was an anti-Trumper, lesbian, just awful, right? And so she harassed me on Day 1.”.

Notably, this seems to be a spat that’s not really about Burgum. In fact, Burgum told me yesterday his meeting with Heinrich was “really fun.” . Asked if he and Heinrich struck any accords on specific policies, Burgum quipped: “Yeah, mule deer hunting.”.

ENR chair Mike Lee says he's talked to Heinrich about his concerns re Burgum hearing. "Burgum has done everything he needs to do." Didn't think FBI background checks were part of ENR process nor does he think will need to postpone but was open if necessary.
