The Gamma Hedging heatmaps showcase the anticipated option-dealer hedging requirements. Red is where selling is induced, white is gamma neutrality (not present recently!) and blue is purchasing support. $SPY and $QQQ started with the same orientations but in different spots:

A reasonable difference in the weekly performance of $SPY and $QQQ this week - coincidentally, their hedging environments going into the week also had a reasonable difference!

A slice of near-the-money weekly options for $SPX with the composite chart (calls vs. puts) shows bearish liquidity. This started around 2PM EST and is continuing. Bearish liquidity = puts will outperform calls. (i.e.: $- is expected).

But we can see the market managed to walk that line quite nicely when we map out the week's progress on $SPY and $QQQ Well done to the MMs and option dealers!
