I was so excited to try out for Team NC roller derby this morning but I got a flat and the air machine at the gas station is broken 🥲 It's not a derby trip without a lil razzle dazzle.

Started seriously painting again to combat the winter blues. This one is a WIP of some fields inspired by my hometown. I've spent hours painting this canola field and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've been walking every single morning right after getting up and it has really helped my morning fatigue. I live on a highway so I just walk up and down our long driveway. Typically, I walk about a mile doing this and it looks absolutely ridiculous on a map.

It seems like every week there's a new bad take giving even worse advice to job-seekers and career transitioners in tech trending on here. So I wrote this piece for the @testdouble blog!

Life circumstances can change that for you no matter your age. We are all on different timelines and trying to achieve different things (sometimes we're just existing, and that's ok too). Our lives are always changing and we're never too old to try something.

I love to see that we are hopefully starting to move on from the "you should be focused on x thing in your 20s/30s/40s/50s etc" takes. You should be focused on what interests you, what you enjoy, what gives you life no matter your age.

I know there's a hurricane afoot because my head feels like it's in a medieval head crusher. And also because it's been raining a lot. But mostly the head crusher thing.

I was hoping to make it home for rodeo weekend, but there's been too much going on to make it work and not exhaust myself. Rodeo season is my favorite - it's like a homecoming of sorts, a shift in energy. Perhaps that is why I also love September. Maybe next year!.

Update: we won! And we had fun! We were very evenly matched, which made for a great bout for both teams. It was the first bout for at least half of the roster on each team; love to see the sport coming back after COVID setbacks.

Bout day!! Excited to support our latest graduating derby class in their first bout today. It is an honor to skate with folks who started as students and are now teammates!

This summer has been hard, and I have been disconnected and disengaged. I lost my passion for projects there for a while. I'm working on getting back on track, tho! What are you all working on that is exciting for you? I'd love to grab virtual coffee sometime ☕.

I feel really lucky that I got to be a part of college radio at an interesting time in music and the industry in general. Definitely felt like the wild west at times, like when we would "live stream" by using chat roulette while we hosted 😆.

Listening to one of the local college radio stations on the drive home from practice really took me back to my own college radio days. I appreciate that college radio is still going strong in some places. The enthusiasm and just pure joy of the host made my day 🌞.
