that’s why i tend to write morty as very demanding with her friends!! there’s a neglect-shaped hole in her heart that she’s eager to fill with indulgences like candy and being spoiled. it’s not about the thing she’s demanding — it’s about the act of receiving it.

it’s not that morty’s feet are sooo tired (although they are) or that she really wants the piggy back ride (although she does), but rather that she wants the emotional support they represent~

i feel like childishness we see is more this — a girl who wants to indulge in the physical comfort and emotional support that’s been denied to her her whole life.

unfort this is kinda an argument on vibes rather than text because we don’t actually get many cute sol scenes bc avmj’s runtime is so cramped lol but~

mortis is a smart teenager. she likes life. she likes showing off on stage! she has fun with it! she spins her guitar and wants another macaron and dips nyamu because she likes seeing her gay little heart race!

and it’s definitely not all the time that she’s childish. we see her on stage, we see her plan and execute a scheme to deceive saki, we see her navigate interviews with skill

but aren’t really literally properties of immature developmental psychology like the way that “inability to perceive the world from another’s perspective” is only learned at a certain age.

outside of this one scene, we don’t mortis act like a /literal/ child. instead, we see times where she’s immature. black-and-white thinking, expressive, emotionally unstable, which are all things we describe as “childish”,

solitary confinement is a prison punishment banned for long durations because it causes hallucinations + other psychological symptoms that mortis experienced. but we wouldn’t typically consider the behaviour of ppl while in to that torture to be part of their “true personality”.

but… it’s a period where mortis has been isolated for a month and is suffering psychosis symptoms. she’s in intense distress.

i think the fandom literal five year old mortis depiction comes from the e6 soyomorty scene where mortis does things associated with children. scribbling with crayon, childish language, pouting, different voice acting even.

sophie was great. nyamu under the sun was great. but it didn’t feel as strong of a “story told without words” as it did at 5th.

oghhh after the mind blowing experience of 5th d2 i was really curious to see how they continued to top the narrative with doloris ether => long water => sora no mujica and… i actually don’t feel like we got anything on that level?

y’all i miss water. i know they’ve only played it at like half the lives but i need it back in rotation. i need to see hatsune whittled and restored. it’s too cathartic.

futatsu no tsuki… felt like being taken to another land… i don’t think i’d heard it live before~ they say a good actress can pull u into their world and i def feel that with menacing!ricocchi…

s/the way is fine in studio but it’s really quite good live!! maybe it was my only moderate expectations but i found it a lot of fun to dance to haha.
