If I’m trading with the flames right now, as cool as getting kadri back would be, I think I’d prefer Blake Coleman. A little younger, way cheaper (both cap hit and acquisition cost) and probably a better fit.
There was believed to be Toronto interest in Mangiapane via former Flames GM Treliving. He might not be finished looking at his old team for a trade, given the Chris Tanev pursuit last year.

In terms of top 6 targets, I wonder if Tyler bertuzzi might be a fit with the leafs if the blackhawks are looking to move him. Cost wise might be on the lower end, and fit wise we know he works with Matthews.

I promise you everyone on front and bay has more important things to do with their lives than obsess over Mitch Marner.
I hope mitch marner scores every big goal for vegas in their playoff run to win mvp, gets the cup first from vegas, then brings it back to Toronto with him and just walks through union station, up and down front street, bremner and bay street for a couple days.

So the Marner saga is (mercifully) over and treliving salvaging anything out of that is a miracle, but the real work starts now, there’s a gap between the leafs and the panthers and he’s going to need to get real creative to fill it.

Of the leafs core players, Marner had the easiest path to becoming a leafs legend and chose to make things as difficult as possible. In the end he’s the one who’s leaving and the guys who everyone said would leave or get traded are still here and thriving.
