I’ve been in recording sessions that felt like blatant “rip offs”. Artists often hear/see something else and just decide that it’s their “new vibe.” Could be laziness, or wanton disregard for IP. Either way, theft is rampant.
However… imo, this is not a case of plagiarism.

I welcome debate on any melodic similarities because the melodic content of both songs is so blurry. I hear the dotted sixteenth come back in DL chorus hook and hang on E over the end of the progression. There’s a little mirrored character in there, sure. Hardly theft.

The ASS drums are basic kick/snare with a playful hi hat part. The DL drums have no discernible hi hat (possible it could be tucked in the mix) and instead opt for a kinda corny double back beat every other bar.
