Thank you to all the fantastic presenters and paper authors from our citizen-state panel this afternoon, @hanwang_geo, Thomas Elston, @c_j_fitz, @RegalBrittney, @ClareMaudling, @_Oliver_James_, and Kim-Lee Tuxhorn for their great papers and to my co-chair @woodhouseleanor.

My and @woodhouseleanor’s panel on citizen-state interactions will deal with many of these questions in relation to public services and public organisations’ relationships with the public. Join us in room 112 at 2pm.

Wonderful to welcome so many brilliant scholars from PA and related fields to @unibirmingham for #UKAPA24. Excited that relationships and relationality is already emerging as a strong theme. So many interesting questions in this emerging field.

Had a brilliant time the last few days speaking with a fantastic group of scholars from different fields about the role of relationships in what governments do. Thank you to Dan Honig (@rambletastic), Mekhala Krishnamurthy and @K_Rahul_Sharma for bringing this community together.

I really enjoyed reading Gwyn Bevan’s new book, How Did Britain Come to This. Although the picture it paints was rightfully quite depressing, it clearly sets out the problems with our current political, economic and administrative settlement. It’s clear we need decisive change.
