Wonderful to welcome so many brilliant scholars from PA and related fields to @unibirmingham for #UKAPA24. Excited that relationships and relationality is already emerging as a strong theme. So many interesting questions in this emerging field.

Brilliant take on the Labour's school teeth-brushing idea from fellow .@CoSS_Birmingham researcher @teachertarot. Using teachers as catch-all policy delivery agents (from policing to public health) intensifies workload and exacerbates the teacher shortage.

I really enjoyed reading Gwyn Bevan’s new book, How Did Britain Come to This. Although the picture it paints was rightfully quite depressing, it clearly sets out the problems with our current political, economic and administrative settlement. It’s clear we need decisive change.

Another lovely piece of news. Our paper on the way user fees for contracted public services introduces new accountability mechanisms now has page numbers 📖 What a week!.
🚨"Assessing the Effects of User Accountability in Contracting Out" by @Esteve_Marc, Juan Carlos Garrido-Rodríguez, @_alice_moore, @cschusterUCL, & José Luis Zafra Gómez shows that contracting out services, where users pay fees and thus have incentives to hold contractors.
