Samura is completely bullshitting on that because Uruha, another person from the same generation, gets his burdens forcibly ripped out by him. This is just the result of his guilt. He just wants to suffer and die alone because he thinks he causes nothing but pain & suffering.

Revenge is that burden. Same with wanting to be a blacksmith & breaking the shinuchi. It's the same burden chihiro carried since chpt 1. Samura wants to rip that away because he thinks only the past suffers from it. And even then. .

Johto is overhated. Sinnoh, on the other hand, quite possibly has the wost distribution of Pokémon this series has ever seen. Lackluster dex, and a chunk of it is barred unless you dual-slot. Platinum exists to fix these mistakes that shouldn't happen in the first place.
