A few picture postcards from our ongoing botanical tour of the Peloponnese in Greece. Our enthusiastic plant finders have found 8 species of Colchicum & 6 Crocuses so far, during days filled with fine flora, food & genuine Greek culture, in this historically rich peninsula.

Why? I didn't have my macro lens on & as this is quite a flighty species, it helped get a shot, by standing back and not disturbing it. New camera technology is making it easier for us & less intrusive for the animals and their habitats.

For those who don't like spiders (see last post) here's something 'cuter'. A delightful Crimson Speckled (Utetheisa pulchella) that I saw yesterday morning. For photographers, this was taken at 400mm with my trusty Canon 100-400 lens. So, not a macro shot.

'Fantastic Four' All great images, but the bear with cubs shot & the fishing bears are the two that I can't take my eyes off! 😍

Good morning from Greece 🇬🇷 Banded Garden Spider (Argiope trifasciata). This species native range is the Americas, but it has been introduced to many places worldwide, and now it has found my Greek island too. First records were 2023.
