Great fun helping bring @josievs’ idea to life yesterday for Lowesy’s renewal. We pride ourselves on trying to showcase riders’ personal brands better than anyone else in the sport… this was a big step in the right direction, we like to think!.

… and turns out according to Reddit, this isn’t an uncommon problem with @KLM…. Cancelled reservations from their side, no communication to say so. Passengers foot a higher bill. That stinks to me. Is it shit system maintenance or is it a scam?.

Anyone got any advice on how we could get our money back? €800 is a lot of money. We’re a small business. Working in bike racing is only getting more expensive and issues like this, though luckily uncommon, do start to impact on our ability to pay our bills.

They claim that the issue was ours and we’re not due any kind of compensation for a clear error on their side. If we had received a “reservation cancelled” email, fair enough. But we had nothing, no reason to think there’d be a problem.

Problem is, to get the flight, we needed to pay €1300, when originally we paid just €550 for 2 people. We had a work commitment the next morning in Assen, so we had to get the flight. Anyways, despite the fact that @KLM ONLY sent us ticket & payment confirmation emails….

Rocked up to check-in at Bologna, “your reservation was cancelled”…. Oh! News to us. Only emails we had were the ones mentioned above. Checked banking app, yep, the payment was “reverted” because it “wasn’t claimed by the merchant” (KLM)… so, no prob on our end. Their issue.

So (not so) funny story from last week. Booked flight with @KLM from Bologna to Amsterdam to go from Mugello to Assen. Had email confirmation through, as well as a “your payment has been successful” email AND tickets. So everything seemed usual at this point….

Even just last year a Moto2 rider told me: “the most worrying part of keeping weight off is when it no longer hurts while you’re hungry”. End of debate there for me.

Very short statements & a small chunk of a much larger opinion & debate but that’s the crux of it for me. Watch how taller riders keep weight in check even in top capacity classes, much worse for the sport forcing riders to have to learn to be comfortable while hungry.

People forget that a lot of success in sport is down to genetics, even in motorsport. Michael Phelps had perfect genetics that gave him an advantage. The best are a mix of great genes (talent) + hard work. Always has been that way, always will be.

Difficult debate with Bautista’s post. But for me personally, better that tall riders don’t have to starve themselves & smaller ones have it a bit tougher than other way round.

I did not need to see this after a long work day. Thanks, crying.
