In any case, as long as referees are accountable to no one but themselves, nothing will change. This weekend's Ligue 1 matches proved that once again.
Louis-Jean : "En 1re mi-temps, il y a eu un fait de jeu qu’on ne comprend pas. On attend une explication de l’#arbitrage. L’action est violente et flagrante." 1/2 #SRFCOL

OL are 4th and will begin a series of five slightly more ‘manageable’ matches before the winter break. The important thing is to bounce back at home against Angers, to prepare for the trips to Utrecht and Lille. The receptions in Salzburg and Toulouse will follow.

To talk about something other than refereeing. Tonight's defeat shouldn't call into question the start of the season. All supporters would have signed up for a 9/12 record given the schedule and context. Especially since the results aren't the only positives of the sequence.

Tonight, there are only two things to point the finger at. Tyler Morton's nonsense (even if the red card is harsh, making that gesture was ill-advised) and the refereeing, for the consequences we all know. But not Fonseca's choices. Not at all. And nothing is to be questioned.

I look at Kader Méïte's entrance, then I look at Ruben Kluivert's. Game changers.

In my opinion, Morton's red card isn't outrageous. However, Rouault's lack of a red card is... Especially since the highlight of the match was that he then scored the equaliser for Rennes. Yet another factor to add to the French refereeing machine.

Ça n’a aucun sens.

La mi-temps de Corentin Tolisso, on préfère en rire. Une de ses meilleures depuis son retour.

Apart from the Maitland-Niles/Descamps misunderstanding, what strikes me most about this OL team is the collective serenity that emanates from them. Even in defence. Everyone knows what they have to do. Nothing too extravagant, but very effective.

"Supporters no longer accept being the adjustment variable in a muddled security policy. What we are describing is not an ‘isolated incident’, but a method: authoritarian staging, controlled isolation, public humiliation, and blatant police violence."

"So this is the vision of public safety: spilling the blood of supporters, without any justification, and accepting humiliation as standard operating procedure."

"The result lived up to their reputation: some of us ended up injured, bleeding, beaten by blows as absurd as they were brutal, while these 'police officers' smirked."

"As if that weren't enough, the BRAV-M intervened. Yes, this brigade, already notorious for its gratuitous police violence during social protests, was mobilised against supporters who had come... to watch a football match."

"And there you have it: an hour of manipulation, ten minutes before kick-off, tension explodes and incidents occur. A predictable outcome. Predictable because it was caused by the approximation and panic of a system that claims to ensure order but only fuels chaos."

"Translation: men and women, supporters like any other citizens, are literally herded into their own means of transport. We are then told, in a supposedly protective tone, that we will be allowed to leave... one by one. Surrounded by heavily armed police officers."

"Upon arrival, after the usual escort point in Senlis, our buses find themselves blocked in the visitor car park. Blockade: police officers in riot gear, tear gas and tasers clearly visible, bus doors kept closed."

Once again, the management of fan travel in France has been called into question. On the sidelines of Sunday's match between PSG and Lens, new incidents marred the pre-match atmosphere. 🧵 Thread with excerpts from the events as recounted by the @RedTigersLens

With Dembele and Doue already ruled out, PSG could be forced to face Atalanta without Kvaratskhelia, Lee and Beraldo, all 3 of whom were injured against Lens. A total bloodbath, with matches against OM, Auxerre, Barcelona and Lille looming before the break.
