And I can also understand not wanting to be around unresolved family conflict because a lot shit gets swept under the rug, especially with the older generations. So people are choosing to remove themselves from those situations all together, valid.

The reasons make sense. Not even just reunions but get togethers in general. People don’t want to take initiative, help plan or contribute anything. Can’t even start up a grill or bring a bag of ice. Just show up empty handed and then wanna take 3 to-go plates.
