A stream of White-winged Black Tern flew over our heads a few hours after arriving in Lesvos. This was the moment when I realised I was birding on a magical island

Bit of Christmas luck this afternoon with finding 12 Russian White-fronted Geese (10 ads) at Priory Water. Part of the current influx nationwide, even better that they're local. https://t.co/xB7f5oaR1R

Lovely to catch up with @SBO_Jason at Farlington Marshes, where we had a Norwegian colour-ringed Rock Pipit ‘X9Z’. Ringed at More og Romsdal, Norway in August 2020 and travelled 1434 km to overwinter at Farlington. Recorded at Farlington each winter since.

Finding this female Lesser Scaup wasn't on the cards today. Showed well this afternoon off the southern section of Swithland Res, Leicestershire. Even sweeter with it being a county tick, where the hot streak continues. More photos on eBird - https://t.co/Ev0a8nBELK

Best views I’ve had of Long-eared Owl near Warham Greens this evening. After 2 minutes of preening, it tried hunting around the roosting site before heading out to the salt marsh

We have finished our Lesvos trip on 188 species for @NathanielDargue’s stag do. A top highlight was seeing triple figures of Red-backed Shrike on migration https://t.co/13Aprep8PS

Unbelievable views of Cretzschmar's Bunting on Lesvos today. This island has been mind blowing for my first time birding outside of the UK
