#OTD in 1934, the first Mace of Upper Canada was returned to Ontario. Taken by American soldiers during the Battle of York in 1813, it was on display at the US Naval Academy Museum until its return. Today, it can be seen at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario

This is a cool property and important for @springwatertwp’s history. The Cultural & Heritage Committee is doing research right now to hopefully stage the Hillsdale Lockup for a tour this year!
The answer to today’s Heritage Trivia Question is - the Hillsdale Jail. Hillsdale was a policing village and small lockups similar to this one were often built for temporary holding of prisoners prior to being transported to larger jails.
