Immensely grateful to @BillyMeloAraujo for all his guidance over the years. Big thanks also to @aglawfoodie & Gordon for acting as examiners. Hugely appreciated!
The School is pleased to announce that Mr Gary Simpson passed his PhD viva on 25 June 2025. Many congratulations Gary. Gary’s thesis was entitled “The UK’s legal framework for market integration in services and devolved regulatory autonomy. A missed opportunity?”. Thank you

Always best to wait until the legal texts are agreed but a dynamic alignment arrangement on SPS and linking of CBAM would be hugely significant for Northern Ireland.

Good news and a sign that the deal between the UK gov and the DUP was carefully coordinated with the EU. It shows how much you can achieve with careful, behind close doors negotiaitons rather than the confrontative approach of the Frost/Johnson years.
🚨Something unexpected on NI🚨...new Joint Committee legal decision expanding 'not at risk' category to cover rest of world imports into NI. Definitely a win for DUP & UK. Also very firmly flies in face of those who said there would be no legal changes 1/

I'm going to write two threads about the Napoleon movie. The first one (this one) will evaluate it as a movie. The second will be a nit-picky history thread about the details and battles. TL;DR it was not great. Golda was a masterpiece by comparison. 2 stars. 1/17

@QUBelfast @PostBrexitGovNI @LisaClaireWhit1 @hayward_katy @DPhinnemore In rounding off an extremely informative and insightful day @hayward_katy looks at avenues in place to facilitate NI's voice in UK-EU relations and asks the question 'are they adequate for the challenge of implementation?'
