🚫 Common mistakes: - Storing passwords or credit cards in the token ❌ - Not rotating tokens on logout ❌ - Using long-lived tokens with no refresh ❌ JWTs are powerful — but like any sharp tool, they need careful handling 🔧

🔒 Is it secure? Yes — if used correctly. JWTs are signed (so no tampering), but they’re not encrypted by default. Anyone can read the payload, so never put sensitive info inside. Use HTTPS. And set short expirations (exp) for safety.

You log into a web app. The server sends a JWT with your user ID and role inside: { "userId": "1234", "role": "admin" } The frontend stores this in localStorage or Authorization header and uses it for every API call.

A JWT looks like this: eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9. eyJ1c2VySWQiOiIxMjM0Iiwicm9sZSI6ImFkbWluIn0. hWkAZs2F3XljXyGHK5t9O9zO_1o-Z6X6oRuJe2k_U-A It has 3 parts: 1️⃣ Header (algorithm info) 2️⃣ Payload (the data) 3️⃣ Signature (for verifying it's legit)
