An 18 year old trans man, Jacob Williamson, was killed by Joshua Newton (25), who lured him by pretending to be romantically interested in Jacob. News outlets are misgendering and deadnaming Jacob, refusing to call this a hate crime. I’m devastated. Jacob should still be here.

I am remembering Jacob Williamson and continuing to mourn him, while I mourn the life of Sam Nordquist, a 24 year old Black trans man who was recently lured in a similar way — with feigned romantic interest from someone who only really meant to harm him. These are hate crimes.
