Three months ago, I asked two outstanding

3rd Pct officers to begin working E 38th St & Chicago Ave as an assigned beat. This week I got to walk the beat with them, and meet some of the residents and business owners they’ve begun establishing relationships with.

We mourn the loss of Officer Darrell Cunningham who was killed while off-duty along with his friend by the senseless violence of a DUI driver. May God welcome him home. We will do everything possible to support his fiancée, 2 young boys, mom & 2 brothers.

, those apart of rescue and recovery efforts, and many who have died or continue to suffer from 9/11 related illnesses.

MPD honors and remembers the brave sacrifice of all those serving in public safety during and after the 9/11 attacks.
Chief O'Hara ordered a moment of silence toned on all radio channels at intervals consistent with the events, as they unfolded that day.
