There’s a future where the random sons of Central KY aristocrats can no longer rake in like $50M by launching some novelty bourbon called Uncle Rabbit’s Moon Gravy that they claim ‘shakes up the bourbon space.’. But no, I think the industry as a whole won’t ‘pop.’.

GOP Rep. Deanna Gordon, who's running for Andy Barr's #KY06 seat, sent out this mass text tonight. "We don't need someone parachuting in.". Feels like a reference to former Sen. Ralph Alvarado, who left his post as TN health commissioner & is considering a run.

Didn't know before going through the archives to write this story that Alvarado ran for office in 2004, 2006 & 2010 before gaining office (and becoming a pretty big deal in KY) in 2014. If at first you don't succeed, etc., etc.

Worth mentioning in the same breath that I've yet to speak to anyone who really believes the race has moved all that much from this position as of yet. But 10 months is a long time and $6M (plus whatever Morris is spending - we won't know until Oct) is a lot of money.

Rep. Andy Barr raised more than $1.4 million in the first 2 (& change) months of campaigning. He's spent a good amount already, but has $6.1M cash on hand. A strong start, I think it's fair to say.

With Rep. Bill Wesley, R-Ravenna, running for state Senate, Darrell Billings has announced he will run again for Wesley's seat. Billings got pretty close to unseating Wesley in the 2024 GOP primary, his second try for the seat. Third time could be the charm.
