First in Freedom. We read it every day on our NC license plates, but what does it really mean? As we approach Americaās 250th birthday, learn how North Carolina delegates took the first steps in freedom.
On April 12, 1776, 83 delegates in NC boldly signed the Halifax Resolvesāthe first official call by any colony to break from Britain. With one voice, they rejected tyranny and made NC First in Freedom. Join us as we highlight how North Carolina remains First in Freedom.
