Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is FromSoftware's "Largest expansion ever."
- Based on lore written by George RR Martin prior to the game's release.
- 10+ new bosses
- 8 new weapon types
- Boss equal in difficulty to Malenia
- Will contain a Poison Swamp
Yuka Kitamura, lead composer behind many of our favorite SoulsBorne game soundtracks such as Dark Souls III, Sekiro, and Bloodborne, has decided to leave FromSoftware to become a freelancer.
-
Her work has been an integral part of what makes these games so special.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Today I have an announcement to make.
I have decided to leave FromSoftware, the company I worked for, and to start working new as a freelance composer in this August.
According to Miyazaki, there is still a secret in Elden Ring that has not been discovered.
-
“However, although it is very small, of course there are things that have not been discovered.”
A new Elden Ring DLC package has just been added to Elden Ring within the files for the first time since launch.
-
I’m not saying it’s 100% Shadow of the Erdtree but… There’s a pretty good chance it is.
OFFICIAL ELDEN RING DLC NEWS:
- Release date is still “a little ways off” but development is “progressing well”
- Comparable to Bloodborne with having “new battles and new characters”
This was quoted by Yasuhiro Kitao at the PlayStation Partner Awards.
Overnight, Elden Ring DLC was added to almost every depot in SteamDB. What does this mean? I'll let you decide.
-
"They read fate in the stars, and are said to be heirs of the Old Hollows. But alas, the night sky no longer cradles fate."
A new Elden Ring infographic has been shared highlighting player details since the game’s release:
- 82 Million Colosseum Battles
- 38.6 Million Rebirths
- 526,843 Atonement’s
- 12 BILLION DEAD ALBINAURICS
There is a new collab between Elden Ring and a controller company clebrating the release of “Shadow of the Erdtree.”
This claims that they can be synced with the DLC release on Elden Ring’s Anniversary, which is February 25th.
-
The page has since been taken down.
Hidetaka Miyazaki and George RR Martin have won the Nebula Award for best Game Writing for the story of Elden Ring.
"The "Nebula Award" is one of the world's most prestigious awards in the genre of speculative fiction that speculates and pursues a world different from reality."
A new Elden Ring novel is being published by Kadokawa, but it’s not what you might think.
-
The novel is called “See You At The Grace” and focuses on a friendship formed around playing Elden Ring.
Elden Ring has achieved a historic accomplishment having won all 4 major Game of the Year Awards.
An accolade only held by Skyrim and BoTW
-
TGA ✅
Golden Joystick Awards ✅
DICE Awards ✅
GDC Awards ✅
Current speculation on Messmer:
I think it’s likely he was another demigod child of Marika, erased from history due to committing a cardinal sin.
He shares many design similarities to the godskins and bears traits of pretty much every anti-Erdtree image.
What was his crime?…
Not getting my hopes up for an anniversary Elden Ring DLC trailer. The most I’m expecting is a:
“Thank you for your continued support of Elden Ring. Be on the lookout for more news in the days and weeks to come!”
An official Elden Ring infographic has been shared and showcases several Top 5’s of the game such as hardest bosses, most used spells, and more!
-
Hardest boss: Malenia (no surprise)
Most used spell: Rock Sling

Now that Armored Core 6 has been released, it means the next big focus for FromSoftware is Elden Ring DLC.
Going to be very interesting in the next few months. Looking forward to what lies ahead.
In an interview with , Bandai Namco EU CEO Aurnad Muller suggests that even though Armored Core 6 won't match Elden Ring sales, future Armored Core games may be possible as they want to "take this IP further in the relationship with FromSoftware."
The Bandai Namco EU Elden Ring playlist that includes trailers received an interesting update on Jan 4th.
-
In light of recent DLC news and rumors, this gets me very excited. *Perhaps* this update was the DLC trailer waiting to go live.
Just finished my first playthrough of Armored Core 6.
-
This was genuinely one of the best games I've ever played and easily in the top 3 best games FromSoftware has made in my opinion.
Incredible story, art direction, and combat.
Easy GOTY for me.
It seems that the Elden Ring IP was transferred from Bandai Namco to being solely the property of FromSoftware as of April 2023.
-
Bandai Namco has continued marketing Elden Ring since then, so I'm unsure of any implications. However, it is interesting nonetheless.

Man Balteus has to be one of the toughest bosses FromSoftware has ever cooked up.
This thing took me upwards of 50 tries to finally beat. Armored Core 6 is no joke😅
According to Imran Khan, former Game Informer senior editor, a Bloodborne Remake/Remaster was at one point in the works.
-
They go on to say: "Haven't heard anything in literal years so I wouldn't hold my breath."
If there's one thing FromSoftware consistently nails in all their games, it's art direction.
Armored Core 6 is another example of their games where every cutscene and boss fight is a spectacle to behold.
This game is beautiful.
“Elden Ring DLC - set to release soon.”
An interview between and Bandai Namco EU CEO has been shared.
In this, they claim Elden Ring DLC is set to release soon…
This may be clever wording, but is interesting since there’s no release date or hint thereof.
More Elden Ring DLC updates have gone out on SteamDB, this time updating the Original Soundtrack and Artbook along with it.
-
SteamDB isn’t always the most accurate but… This is looking good.👀
There are currently no plans for a second Elden Ring DLC, but it’s still a possibility.
-
Miyazaki does not want to discount more Elden Ring in the future, however, it’s not currently planned.

SPOILER WARNING!
The Miquella boss fight in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree has leaked!
-
This is the first image in a supposed FromSoftware data breach.
A new LinkedIn post appears to show that Elden Ring DLC has been in development since at least April 2022.
Indicating over a year of development for Shadow of the Erdtree so far.
This is updated from a section that said "unannounced project" back in March.
-
VERY Interesting...
Out of the "big vista moments" of the Dark Souls series and Elden Ring, which one was the most impressive?
-
Really hard for me to say, but both Anor Londo and Leyndell had me frozen trying to comprehend what I was looking at. Genuinely couldn't believe what I was seeing
If we don't get an Elden Ring DLC announcement tomorrow, I will officially go hollow.
I can't imagine a better time to do it than on the year anniversary.
Come on Fromsoft🙏
In my opinion, Armored Core 6 could have easily been nominated for several other categories like Best Score/OST, Best Sound Design, and most importantly Best Game Direction.
It reinvented how Mech games will be viewed going forward. Nearly perfect game direction if you ask me.
A rumor on 4chan is claiming a Demon Souls PC port is coming later this year alongside TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima.
-
A Demon Souls PC Port was part of the Nvidia leak a while back, and is one of the only games listed to not be ported yet.
Armored Core 6 probably won't win Game of the Year, but it absolutely deserves to be nominated.
If the competition wasn't so heavy, it would've been an easy contender, but 2023 has been such a stacked year for gaming.
Hopefully, it wins Best Action Game or Best Art Direction.
It appears an Elden Ring Mobile game is in the works by Tencent. The goal is to create an open world F2P game with in app purchases like Genshin Impact.
-
However, progress has been slow to develop a prototype says 3 people close with the project.
There's definitely room for a throne or two removed.
I know the space likely is meant to represent the bond of Miquella/Malenia, but could it be a space removed for Messmer...
I have a feeling the DLC might be like that chapter of Berserk where they traverse Casca’s mindscape.
We may go through Miquella’s corrupted dream and fix it
If this news about a Sekiro anime is real(the leaker is very credible) then that sounds absolutely incredible.
Arguably out of FromSoftware’s catalog, Sekiro has the most adaptable story and characters.
This can be amazing if handled by the right studio🔥
Elden Ring DLC is listed under “medium to long term” profitability measures in the new Kadokawa Financial report.
-
While they of course can’t give details, this phrasing scares my hollow self quite a bit…
Another point of reference: this happened for Dark Souls 2/3 roughly 2 months before DLC releases and a day or two before trailers for their respective DLCs went live. As noticed by Resetera users.
Although, it’s already been a day and no trailer so… who knows🤷♂️
A new Elden Ring DLC package has just been added to Elden Ring within the files for the first time since launch.
-
I’m not saying it’s 100% Shadow of the Erdtree but… There’s a pretty good chance it is.
Theory:
The Black Knife Assassins were never from the Eternal Cities, they were from the Land of Shadow. They used Marika's veil to conceal themselves. This is why we find one outside the bedchamber. This is also why they're in Ordinia. They followed the trail of Miquella back.
Wagering these guys are a pro-Erdtree faction at war with Messmer's forces.
-
It's said that the Land of Shadow is "where Marika became a god and the Golden Tree was born. Naturally, there was a culture that existed before the Golden Tree."
Dark Souls 2 is so slept on. It had some fantastic features that I wish would return:
- Built-in challenge run rewards
- Miniboss-style NPC invasions
- Bonfire Aesthetics
- Revamped NG+
- Unconventional side quests such as Loyce Knights
- Secret boss interactions(Raime/Velstadt)
There is a new Elden Ring manga out called ELDEN RING Become Lord.
-
It has a more serious tone than Journey to the Erdtree, but is currently unavailable in English.
A reminder that in Elden Ring, Miquella has a credited VA and a whole speech of cut dialogue.
-
Even though it's not currently in the game, this is one of my favorite quotes and imo, a good frame of what we might be doing in the DLC.
Elden Ring won big at the DICE awards, taking home awards for technical achievement, game design, game direction, best RPG, and Game of the Year.
-
Miyazaki once again assured that they will continue working on the game.
Theory: The Roundtable Hold is veiled just as the Land of Shadows is.
Where Marika stores her “pawns” such as Hewg, imprisoned by her to forge a godslaying weapon. Why we need Melina to take us there-a place between realms, a reconstruction of the Fortified Manor beyond sight.
Gotta wonder how much Elden Ring’s runes were influenced by the alien language in Arrival.
-
The mending rune of death and the “O” in Shadow of the Erdtree in particular share a resemblance.
