As a former staffer I can also tell you that they routinely use this and other tdy, and amenities fraudulently. Or they horde the daily allowance. And when in session they don't pay for anything. They send pages out for take away and they bill it to the Congressional slush fund.
Members of congress get $79/day to spend on meals. SNAP provides individuals $6.20/day to spend on meals. I don't ever want to hear a Republican or member of congress complain about SNAP benefits.
