Did you know I run a small retro game company called @DelayedAgainAB ? Probably not, because I have many more followers here 😅. The first game is a co-op action-RPG called The Viking & The Ninja. 1/3

Apparently I beat the final boss of Miracle Warriors in a crappy fighting game which was releases six years later.

To be fair, my rating is a bit generous given it's a 1994 release, and it doesn’t feel much bigger than something like Phantasy Star III. But I enjoyed it for what it was. 7/10. 8/8

I enjoy direct sequels like this, instead of completely different stories like Final Fantasy does. 7/8

But the designer made the title fit well, which I commend. Now I’m going to play the sequel, which stars the son of this game’s hero. 6/8

I felt a real sense of joy beating him without grinding or redoing the dungeon. Interestingly, this isn’t really a Dragon Slayer game—the title was added to capitalize on that series’ success. 5/8

It works well, but I was disappointed that a few boss battles felt the exact same. The final dungeon and boss were brutal—the boss beat me several times before I figured him out! 4/8

The new boss battle theme is fantastic though; I even like it more than the PC Engine version. Gameplay is standard: talk to people, buy gear, go to dungeons, fetch loot, and sometimes fight bosses. 3/8

Considering the 1994 release, the enhancements could have been more. The graphics are bigger and look nicer, and the FM audio has more punch. But there are no new details in the fields, no battle animations, nor new cutscenes. 2/8

I beat Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes on the Mega Drive, using Google Lens. It’s a typical fantasy JRPG, which makes sense since the original came out in 1989 (this port is from 1994). 1/8

I beat Golden Axe Warrior on my Sega Mega Drive. It's a great action-RPG and a spinoff to the brawler series, which stays true to the source material with many references. Excellent level design which rewards exploration, colorful gfx and catchy music makes it a top game! 9/10

I can wholeheartedly recommend it. It's definitely one of the very best indie releases on the Mega Drive. I'll give it 8.5/10. Thanks to Neofid and good luck with Demons of Asteborg DX! /end

The biggest flaws for me were the fact that the difficulty curve was reversed - it just got easier and easier - and it was quite tedious to get all bestiary entries. But this and the few other flaws don't bring it down very much. It's overall better than Demons of Asteborg.

The music is quite good, but I prefer the more epic tunes of DoA. It's a bit more atmospheric this time around, which isn't my cup of tea, but the Pigman's Fort and Castle themes were fantastic.
