This is the scarring and destruction of a lot of agricultural land by a Six-Circuit 220kV Underground Cable in North Lincolnshire to cut corners with Planning Permission. Here is a comparison of the land impact of a 400kV Overhead Line vs a 400kV Underground Cable corridor.

Some people may say that I’m a danger to others because I speak my mind. If I see idiocy, I will call it out.

The perfect tower for The Great Grid Upgrade, the L13. It’s the heaviest 400kV tower in the class but it’s the same type of steel used for the L12 but thicker to accommodate some of the heaviest mechanical loads. It’s easy to assemble however and a perfect time to futureproof.

Underground Cables will never be cheaper than Overhead Lines as the materials used go through more processing and manufacturing than for OHL due to the cooling and flow containment being 100% man-made, not to mention the amount of manual labour needed. https://t.co/VPDF6sUA8u

Campaigners accuse the Energy Secretary of pursuing ‘dogmatic’ agenda and warn of ‘pitchfork battles’ with rural communities

Explain this, NIMBY’s. Is this beauty or an eyesore? I drove past this today with my girlfriend en route to Blackpool as a de-tour because the M1 at Wakefield was closed due to a bridge defect.

Here is the amount of land use required for a 400kV cable. 275kV and 132kV have less land use requirements but they still face the same issues and is not feasible for default cases. This is a proposed 400kV underground cable linking Great North Road Solar Farm to Staythorpe.

The Great Grid Upgrade cannot fully go ahead without a Critical Infrastructure Act legislation to secure our Transmission & Distribution network upgrades. This will be the downfall.

Rule 1. Always upgrade existing infrastructure before building new OHL's. ZDA (L2) and 4TM (L6c) are being reconductored to prepare for more incoming renewable generation peak loads from Solar Farms in the area. When existing infrastructure gets to it's limits, then we build new.

NEVER climb or go near live electricity equipment and switchgear, the close proximity is enough for the current to arc to your body and inject thousands to millions of amps into your internal system and kill you. If there is a problem, call the TSO or local DNO in your area.

Out photographing some old MIDESCO 66kV towers at Breadsall and Morley with my best friend before they get replaced, we then came across this NIMBY poster about the proposed Chesterfield - Willington line.

@InfosReseaux @ZakM180 @BaDu1967 @G7KVE @hoogspan @OtherProfGreen Still a faff tho eh. Not like restraining an OHL where you can see what you’re doing
