Extremely grateful for my time covering the Bears. It’s been quite the journey. Excited to join the Cubs broadcast team. Thank you for all the kind words.
Baseball thoughts: Please stop with the eulogies. No matter what happens on the field today, 2018 Cubs baseball isn’t over. You’ve got to be in it to win it, and they’re in it. This is still the golden era of Cubs baseball. Don’t take it for granted.
10 years ago today, Bears beat Seattle 35-24 to advance to the NFC Championship Game.
Jay Cutler threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more.
"That’s pretty stinking good, if you ask me," said Brian Urlacher.
Bears have not won a playoff game since.

From ‘The Shot’ by Michael Jordan to the Cubs winning Game 7 of the 2016 World Series to Justin Fields’ first start with the Bears, some of the most historic moments in Chicago sports history continue to be made in Cleveland.
If you truly love the Bears, how can you not be excited for the new era that’s about to begin?! The goal should always be to build a team that can sustain success. They’re on the precipice of being able to start doing that.
From the radio booth at Wrigley Field to your speakers, we are all pretty lucky to spend our summers listening to Pat Hughes, Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame inductee.

QB Mitchell Trubisky: "You haven't thrown an interception on third down...."
Trubisky: "Why would you jinx me? That's not cool. Come on, dude!"
Appreciate what’s happening here. Bears were 26 games below .500 in the 5 years since firing Lovie Smith after a 10-6 season in 2012. The 2018 Bears will finish with a winning record for the first time since then. They’re as fun a team to watch as the Bears have had since 1985.
Not Grange. Not Sayers. Not Payton. Not Forte. Jordan Howard is the first

101 years ago today, 24-year-old OF George Halas played his last MLB game for the New York Yankees. After a brief stop to play football for the Hammond Pros, Halas moved to Decatur to help create the team that would eventually become the Chicago Bears.
“I honor them every day. It’s where I’m from.” - Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo, wearing a Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS shirt. “I think what they’re doing is amazing.”
No Baez. No Bryant. No Contreras. No matter.

Cubs will host St. Louis on Friday.
Max Strus’ ascent from Stagg High School to Lewis to DePaul to starter on the Miami Heat during the playoffs this season is one of the more remarkable Chicagoland sports success stories. It’s a true testament to hard work, belief and relentless dedication to the craft.
As the season comes to a close, thank you for spending it with us on Cubs radio. Rarely does it end the way we want, so we learn to appreciate the journey and many memories along the way. Hope you did too, while learning a little and laughing a lot. You are the best!!
A toast in the home radio booth before Pat Hughes’ first game at Wrigley Field since his return from Cooperstown. He was presented with the bases the Cubs used vs. St. Louis the weekend he received the 2023 Ford C. Frick Award.
The year before Vic Fangio came to Chicago, Bears allowed 27.6 ppg, most in the NFC. Bears gave up the fewest points in the NFL in 2018 (17.7 ppg). He transformed Kyle Fuller into a first-team All-Pro CB, and correctly predicted a Cubs championship. Impressive tenure.
It wasn’t the coordinator.
It wasn’t the offense.
It wasn’t the offensive line.
It wasn’t the weapons around him.
It’s H1M!
The league has made that loud and clear!
All-Star Justin Steele is now 16-3 with a 2.55 ERA. Steele is the first Cubs left handed pitcher since 1901 with a start of at least 8.0 scoreless innings, allowing two or fewer hits and striking out at least 12.
