This isn’t a dresser. To the keen eye, you’ll see what makes it a #chestofdrawers. First, it has less than six drawers. Second, it’s built higher instead of long and low. We delight in the makings of each piece of furniture and its specifications.

Touch is a craft. The hand-pinched shade on this ceramic table lamp reminds us of this. Like all #handcrafted designs, the skill of the craftsperson is seen in each item. This is especially true of In Common With’s highly-textured #domelamp. https://t.co/cUEs34668u

Desks & tables have a lot in common. Similar build & height. Where they differ is storage (desks have it; tables don’t) & seating (desks may only be used on one side; tables on all). Knowing this, it looks as if artist Josh Young (featured above) prefers using a table as a desk.

There are blankets. There are afghans. And then there are #throwblankets. The latter (featured here by designer @palominabazaar) often include knitted elements and are smaller than a blanket, which fits bed sizes. Can’t tell? Measure it out. Most are 50 inches x 36-60 inches.

Comfort matters and so does conscious construction. We ask our partners about everything from their lumber sourcing to their glues. That’s why we know the #HazelSofa’s frame is made of @fsc_international and reclaimed wood and formaldehyde-free glues. https://t.co/md2ccvQCN9

This bureau’s delicate style nods to 18th century English furniture maker George #Hepplewhite. In particular, the subtle inlaid detailing & round metal pulls have a similarly light touch. American furniture designers quickly picked up on his airy, distinctive vision seen here.

Cupola means dome. Swipe to see how these in the Spanish colonial architecture of Antigua, Guatemala. It’s this connection between architecture design and #furnituredesign that inspired @labricadesign to create this emblematic focal point. https://t.co/hAfCHRVkbP

Enchanting in scale, #gallerywalls have been around since the 17th century. Originally called #salonwalls, they proliferated after an arts exhibition leveraged the format. The world over has since signed on. Seen here: @sartorialist. (📷 x Gieves Anderson for @archdigest)

In many ways,#homedesign is an art of organization. The routed trays help do just that on this #AshlandCoffeeTable by 57st Design. Made for knick knacks - and peace of mind. #onlyheirlooms #coffeetable #contemporarydesign

See that #bentwoodchair peeking out from the corner? The way its backrest projects forward reminds us of #Thonet’s chair No. 209. Likely, the original steam-bending manufacturing process from the 19th century informed the chair in this image. #michaelthonet #woodenchair

How can you tell if a chair is a better fit for a table or a counter? Seat height. Chairs like this one with seats ~18” high are great for standard tables (~30” tall). That said, stools with seats ~24” high tuck into countertop tables (~ 35” tall). https://t.co/icJmUNjRSr

Everyone has placed their personal library on more than one type of bookshelf over time - from cube and ladder to barrister or floating. Here, the #wallmountedbookshelves just don’t get old and they hold up! Almost 1,200lbs here according to Daniel Kantor.

A frustum is the portion of a pyramid that remains after its upper part has been cut off. Its name fittingly comes from the Latin frustum meaning “piece” or “crumb.” This geometry has been put to use in the home at the hands of @incommonwith’s #CeramicPyramidTableLamp.

As lead times lengthen near the holiday season, vintage furniture sales continue to skyrocket. And for good reason! We are ever appreciative of @voguemagazine for illuminating this and for including the first mention of our B Corp certification to boot! https://t.co/XAP40hjDl6

Thanks to a new focus on personal interior style—and horrific supply chain delays—vintage furniture is flying off the shelves. Here's what people are buying.

Part of the beauty of a pattern is its repetition. This can be said of the Windsor chair and its parallel spindles. The same for the wooden planks of our walls and roofs. Or even the abstract swirls of our bedding. We can’t help but be drawn to the symmetry and predictability.

Dovetail joints make hardware unnecessary. Instead of nails or dowels to fasten the planks together, the solid wood is hand cut to form pins and tails that create interlocking wedges. This practice achieves a secure fit when at the hands of a true craftsman such as #57stdesign.
