Husband, Father, Attorney & Nevada State Treasurer. Candidate for Nevada Attorney General.
Las Vegas, NV
Joined February 2009
Nevada faces serious challenges: attacks on our rights, our well-being, our future. I'm running for Attorney General to defend our freedoms and hard-earned tax dollars from the federal government and to ensure a more fair and just Nevada that works for everyone.

Let's be clear, this is a choice. President Trump could easily extend SNAP benefits through the end of November - the funding is there. But he's willing to let millions of American children go hungry for political gain.

Congrats to Shohei O’Teddy who struck out 8/9 (tagging out the ninth), went 3/3 with singles and earned the hell out of the game ball.

A friendly reminder that this administration isn’t interested in adhering to federal law. https://t.co/ZQyFmrGmix

Secretary Rollins’ claim that the Trump Administration is unable to deliver November SNAP benefits during a shutdown is unequivocally false. The Administration is legally required to use contingency...

Due to Trump's government shutdown, the SNAP payments that would fall on November 1st will be delayed until the Congressional GOP funds the government. I know this will cause a lot of difficulty for countless Nevada families who rely on those benefits.

USDA's position during this and prior shutdowns has been that the contingency reserve is available to pay for SNAP benefits during a funding lapse...until about 20 minutes ago, apparently.
Punchbowl reports “White House officials determined they do not have the authority” to use contingency reserves —billions of $ that Congress provided for use when SNAP funding is inadequate— to fund Nov. SNAP benefits. But, that’s not what USDA’s now-deleted shutdown plan says:

But honestly, the quote of the day goes to state Treasurer @ZConine, who said in a news release this: "Although the State of Nevada did not cause this crisis, state leaders have a responsibility to find a solution." In other words, "fix the problem, not the blame."

For the third time, #ClarkCounty and @CommishNaft presented the @LVAces a key to the Las #Vegas Strip. What do you do when you have three keys? You get a keychain to put them on! #RaisetheStakes #AllIn

Nevada AG Aaron D. Ford has filed a lawsuit to recover over $150M in Solar for All funds illegally cut when President Trump ended the program. The grant would have helped lower energy costs for thousands of low-income households in Nevada.

The Trump Administration cut the entire staff for a program that helps rural, Tribal, and low-income Nevadans get a leg up by providing small business loans. I talked to @News4Reno about it.

Congrats to Assembly Speaker @SpeakerYeagerNV, selected for a prestigious fellowship that focuses on the nation's founding documents and some great thinkers in U.S. history. No time like the present to study up on this. MORE:

One of the most rewarding parts of serving our state is visiting with people in all 17 counties. I am excited to talk to more Nevadans about what I can do as our next Attorney General to make our economy and legal system work for all of us.
Inbox: AG candidate + Treasurer Zach Conine launched a listening tour that began with a domestic violence roundtable in Las Vegas. “As Attorney General, my focus will be on the issues that actually affect your life," Conine said.

Community Development Financial Institutions help rural, Tribal, and low-income Nevadans get a leg up by providing small business loans. The Trump Administration just eliminated staff for the entire program. My statement with Nic Steele of Nevada-based @AccessCDFI :

Today, we pause to honor and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day. 🌿This day reminds us of the strength, history, and ongoing contributions of Indigenous communities in Nevada and throughout the country.

You can read about what's happening with the shutdown here: https://t.co/uCsV19qubY (The picture shows the face I make when we’re fighting the Trump administration’s daily nonsense)

States are doing what they generally do during a federal government shutdown: continuing to operate programs serving some of the neediest people.

Instead of working to make sure health insurance premiums don't skyrocket next year, the Trump Administration is threatening to withhold funding for essential services. I talked to @stateline_news about it.
