Are bears more active in the park with fewer visitors? A mother and cubs ran in fromt of my car on 120 today. I wasnβt speeding and they were fine.

Activity does seem high right now, but it's hard to tell if that's because of fewer people or not. Thanks for not speeding... a few seconds made the difference there!

It helps protect owls too! (they like to fly across the forested roads at night to grab mice). Image is from the NWF and is a Great Grey Owl

Poor bears π’ I can't wait til I see one in person in their natural habitat and here are people hitting them with their cars cause they can't slow down π
@YosemiteNPS
Oh no! When we were in Yosemite in June we saw two speed related wrecks in 5 days. One car hanging off the edge of the road, saved by a tree. The other was totaled after smashing into the cliff face right by Tunne View. Slow down.

This makes me SO mad. Previously you shared a story of 3 cubs whose mama was hit and killed. It should be required reading for all who enter the park by car. Iβve always been a careful driver; now I have no problem being the annoying driver who slows everyone down behind me!
@YosemiteNPS
How stupid can people be. The park has been empty for visitors for months. Of course wildlife is walking on the roads. Iβm crying. Itβs so unfair.
